The Lufkin Family Foundation invites you to submit
A 500 word letter of inquiry to info [at] lufkinfamilyfoundation [dot] org. We are specifically looking for projects that offer creative solutions to environmental problems. Projects that are most likely to receive our attention will:

  • Offer intelligent, systemic solutions to environmental problems, national or international.
  • Provide new ways of addressing environmental issues.
  • Be carefully thought out, and present evidence of ability to succeed. No hare-brained schemes, please.
  • Be at an early stage of development where they can benefit from additional investment. This would be comparable to an angel round of funding, for the venture capitalists out there.
  • Be presented by solid, fiscally sound 501c3 organizations with a proven track record of success.

If your program is selected for further review we will invite you to submit a complete proposal at that time. This letter is simply to give us a sense of what you intend to do. We have limited funding, but are interested in working with you to convene funders dedicated to collaboratively supporting creative environmental solutions.

Your letter should include:

  • Name of sponsoring organization, contact person and contact information
  • 501c3 number
  • A description of the problem the program will address
  • An outline of the plan for the program, including an implementation time line
  • Supporting evidence of likelihood of success – list of partners, previous successes, key individuals involved, etc.
  • Be limited to 500 words. We will not review letters of inquiry over this length.

What you can expect from us:

We will review your proposal within 6  weeks. You will only hear from us if your proposal is selected for further review. If you do not hear from us within 6 weeks, please assume that your proposal was not selected. We are a small family foundation without any staff, so please do not contact us with follow-up inquiries.
